The Margaret Chase Smith Library supports many of the programs offered by the Maine Humanities Council. The library has hosted the reading and discussion series "Community and Change in Maine and America" and New Books, New Readers. Staff members have also led reading and discussion series made possible through the Let's Talk About It, "National Connections," and "Modern Times in Maine and the United States" projects. Finally, the library organized a Margaret Chase Smith History Camp for high school students in 2006 and 2007. Another edition of the camp, "The Cold War, McCarthyism, and the Declaration of Consicence," will be offered at the Margaret Chase Smith Library during the summer of 2010.
