"This opportunity was, by far, the most valuable learning experience I have had during my time at Northwood. It was so amazing to be able to touch a piece of our country's history, see how it has shaped where we are today and how it is still so relevant. My only complaint would be that our time at the library was too brief. I felt as if I could have easily spent more time there. I think that Senator Smith's history should be included in every Northwood student's learning experience. Again, thanks to the NU and MCS Library staff for a very memorable, valuable learning experience."

Northwood University's Adult Degree Program, provides
students the opportunity to visit the library for four days of intensive study. After a preview of
Senator Margaret Chase Smith's life, participants research a topic using one of the many primary-source case studies developed by
the library staff. At the end of the week, they must present an oral report on their findings. A final paper on the topic is due a month after the
session concludes. During the week, students also listen to a series of historical lectures, which they must summarize and submit in written form.
