Margaret Madeline Chase was born in Skowhegan, Maine, on December 14th, 1897. She was the daughter of George Emery and Carrie Murray Chase. Her birth home,
built by her Grandfather John L. Murray, still stands on North Avenue in Skowhegan. She attended school in Skowhegan, and was a running center/manager for
the basketball team all four years of high school.
